The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It enhances immersive classes taught in English with appropriate levels of support. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program will benefit from: Tailored support for academic and English language needs Completion of a full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically designed for international students Assistance with English language vocabulary essential for coursework A diverse mix of classes with both international and U.S. students The LSU Department of Political Science offers a wide range of courses for undergraduate students, with a focus on professors who are dedicated to undergraduate education. The department covers various areas such as American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory. Our faculty members have received numerous teaching awards, and our department consistently ranks among the top two or three in the College of Arts and Sciences in terms of number of majors. Students have the option to choose from several areas of concentration, including: American Government and Politics Comparative Government and Politics International Politics and Law Political Theory Political Analysis Campaigns and Elections Law and Legal Systems Public Policy Race and Politics Upon graduation, students will be equipped to: Provide LSU students with the necessary knowledge and analytical skills to be responsible citizens who contribute to the well-being of the state and nation Contribute to a deeper understanding of politics and government through faculty research and publications Serve as experts for national, state, and local government Prepare political science majors for successful careers in government, academia, and the private sector Offer graduate training for PhD and MA students in political science, focusing on state-of-the-art instruction in all specialization areas and producing graduates with excellent research, teaching, and professional skills.
