The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. Students in the Academic Accelerator receive: The right amount of support for their academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students English-language help with words needed for classes A mix of classes with international and U.S. students The LSU Department of Political Science offers a variety of courses for undergraduates in a setting where professors are genuinely interested in undergraduate education. The department covers American Politics, Comparative Politics, International Politics, and Political Theory. Teachers regularly win college and university teaching awards, and the number of majors consistently ranks among the top two or three in the College of Arts and Sciences. Students can choose from areas of concentrations such as: American Government and Politics Comparative Government and Politics International Politics and Law Political Theory Political Analysis Campaigns and Elections Law and Legal Systems Public Policy Race and Politics Upon graduation, students will be able to: Provide LSU students with the knowledge and analytical skills necessary to be responsible citizens, contributing to the well-being of the state and the nation Contribute to a deeper understanding of politics and government through faculty research and publications Serve as a resource of expertise for national, state, and local government Provide political science majors with the education required to pursue successful careers in government, academics, and the private sector Provide graduate training for PhD and MA students in political science that reflects state-of-the-art substantive and methodological instruction in all specialization areas, and to produce graduate students with superior research, teaching, and professional skills.
