The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program designed for international students with strong English-language skills. It provides additional support to complement English-taught classes, ensuring students have the necessary resources for success. Students enrolled in the Academic Accelerator Program can expect: Tailored academic and English language support Completion of a full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses specifically designed for international students Assistance with essential vocabulary for coursework A diverse learning environment with both international and U.S. students The Bachelor of Arts in International Studies program offers a comprehensive exploration of global issues, with a focus on specific regions or topics such as global diplomacy. Students have the opportunity to participate in study abroad programs and gain expertise in the languages and cultures of their chosen area. Concentrations within the BA International Studies program include Africa, Asia, Environment and Development, Europe, Global Cultures, Global Diplomacy, Global Studies, Latin America, and the Middle East. The Africa concentration delves into the politics, history, folklore, and culture of Sub-Saharan Africa, a region with significant cultural ties to the United States and a key supplier of resources like cocoa, coffee, and rubber. The economic challenges faced by some African nations underscore the importance of sustainable development efforts. Graduates of the program may pursue careers as ambassadors, federal agents, foreign service specialists, international business managers, international development professionals, or lawyers.
