Program Description Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. As a student in the Academic Accelerator, you’ll receive: The right amount of support for your academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students English-language help with words you need to know for your classes A mix of classes with international and U.S. students Bachelor of Arts with Majors in Germanic Studies is offered by the Department of Germanic Studies. The language and culture courses are at the beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels that emphasize the development of language fluency and cultural competency, as well as critical-thinking and effective writing skills. Course offerings cover a wide array of topics including film, Business German, and contemporary media. Courses in Yiddish language, literature, and culture are also offered. Students who major in Germanic Studies may use their training in a variety of occupations, including teaching, translation, international marketing, banking and commerce, diplomatic service, and journalism.
