Program Description The Academic Accelerator Program (AAP) is a balanced first-year program for international students with good English-language skills. It supplements immersive classes taught in English with just the right amount of support. Students in the Academic Accelerator receive: The right amount of support for their academic and English-speaking needs A full year’s worth of college credits Access to courses exclusively for international students English-language help with words they need to know for their classes A mix of classes with international and U.S. students If students have a passion for filmmaking and are interested in movies and media, they can consider studying Film & Media Arts at the University of Utah. This program offers students the opportunity to examine the visual art form. Through a series of courses covering the history, aesthetics, and criticism of the motion picture, students gain critical thinking skills and hands-on experience in film and video production. Students will be exposed to cinema from around the world, exploring genres such as narrative, documentary, experimental, and animation. Electives in women directors, film diversity, film genres, animation, storyboarding, sound, screenplay writing, and other topics are also available. Students have the opportunity to focus their studies in one of three emphases: Animation, Film Production, or Media Arts Production. Whether students prefer to hone their skills in animation, traditional filmmaking, or immersive media, the Film & Media Arts program at the U will prepare them to join the next generation of visual innovators.
