Program Description If you meet the academic entry requirements of a James Madison University bachelor's degree and need to improve your English language IELTS score, we offer the International Year program. International Year (IY) is a fast-track pathway to second-year placement into a James Madison University bachelor's degree. It includes specialized courses in American culture, Intensive English Program (IEP) and study skills to help you adjust to US teaching methods and resources. You’ll also take courses from year 1 of your chosen degree program. The program is split into courses across semesters. Your program duration will depend on your English language skill level on entry. Modern enterprises of all kinds operate in a global environment. By choosing the International Business major, you’ll learn solid business skills while developing an understanding of other cultures and the capacity to work comfortably in more than one corner of the global marketplace. International Business is an interdisciplinary program, with students taking international-focused courses from all the business disciplines and the Department of Foreign Languages and Literature. You’ll be expected to develop competency in a second language and culture of your choice. All students majoring in International Business are required to study abroad for at least a semester or complete a semester-long international internship in a country where English is not the primary language.
