Program Description If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects. Master of Arts - Criminology and Social Research Examine the nature and causes of crime from a sociological perspective. On this course, students will examine the motivations of people who commit crime and how societies attempt to control them. They'll learn how to analyse a wide range of data. Students will also gain a critical understanding and practical knowledge of a range of social research methods relevant to conducting criminological research. After finishing their studies, students will have the skills and knowledge required to pursue a successful career in academic research, criminal justice and related fields.
