Program Description This two-semester course is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree. It aims to help you develop the skills you need to join the second year of a related degree at the University of Leeds, by building on your pre-existing English language skills and supporting you through the introduction to a British-style university curriculum. Our teachers work closely with students to bring you a tailored, personal studying experience and allow you to seamlessly enter an undergraduate degree. Studying Biological Sciences can open up a wealth of career options in many different professional fields. This International Year One pathway offers focused subject-specific modules such as neuroscience, genetics, pharmacology and anatomy. There is also a module in academic English language skills included in the pathway, which aims to improve your English language ability to prepare you for academic challenges. The study of Microbiology at the University of Leeds requires expertise in a range of areas, such as immunology, genetics, biochemistry and cell biology, which we'll train you in throughout your degree. On Leeds' undergraduate degree, you’ll study a range of microbiological topics affecting humanity today, such as bacterial resistance to antibiotics, use of microbes in biotechnology for food production and agriculture, and how microbes cause disease.
