Program Description This program consists of a pathway program offered by StudyGroup at the International Study Centre for the University of Huddersfield followed by entry into a university program offered at the University of Huddersfield. In your international foundation year, you will study courses related to your intended field of study alongside English to develop and enhance your skills as a student. Advancement into your intended program depends upon successful completion of the pathway program. The International Foundation Year in Health and Human Sciences will provide you with the skills and tools necessary to succeed in career fields such as sports science, podiatry, physiotherapy, pharmaceutical science. During your time in the Foundation Year, you will study core subjects, as well as optional subjects intentionally designed for your chosen field of study. These subjects will also prepare you for a career in psychology, behavioural sciences, sociology and criminology. All of these skills will be key for future academic success at the University of Huddersfield. Crime is a feature of social life in every community and society throughout the world. As the behaviours that are regarded as crime, and the types of criminal behaviour committed constantly change, the need for criminal justice related agencies and governments to understand crime and how to reduce it continues to rise. This course will help you gain the skills and knowledge you need for a future career working with offenders, victims, criminal and social justice organisations or advising organisations on the steps they can take to reduce crime. You’ll study a wide spectrum of criminal behaviour, from petty theft through to state-sponsored terrorism. And you’ll be encouraged to investigate ways to reduce the crime rate, and assess the effect of organisations within the criminal justice system, such as the police and the Crown Prosecution Service.
