Program Description This two-semester course aims to help you develop the skills you need to succeed at your undergraduate degree at the University of Leeds. Aiming to improve your basic English language skills, as well as honing your academic voice, this course is suitable for students who want a tailored, personal studying experience to introduce you to your higher education career in the UK. Our teachers work closely with students to equip you with knowledge to help you successfully enter the British higher education system. The International Foundation Year in Business, Law and Social Studies will provide you with a rounded introduction to all three topics, as well as offering insight into more focused modules of your choice. A featured core module in Economics will give you the grounding to understand and develop your knowledge in your chosen modules. You will then have the opportunity to tailor your module options towards subjects such as International Relations, Accounting and Politics, to cater to your interests and solidify a clear progression degree. This course explores how economic theory is applied to develop an understanding of the economic environment in which businesses operate, and will prepare you for a variety of stimulating careers. You’ll cover the core concepts, practices and techniques in economics and combine this with gaining the analytical, quantitative, computing, presentation and other transferable skills required by employers in both the private and public sectors. A range of optional modules will allow you to explore the topics that suit your interests and career plans, from the wider business environment to banking and finance, and health, labour or transport economics.
