Program Description If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects. Master of Arts - Applied Linguistics for English Language Teaching Students extend their knowledge of the processes that underpin and facilitate language learning. Students will learn about new developments in applied linguistics research and will be able to reflect on these in light of their own practical expertise. This course is designed for those with experience of teaching English as a second language.
