Program Description If you hold a bachelor’s degree or equivalent, but don’t meet the entry requirements for a master’s, a Pre-Master’s can help you gain a place on a postgraduate degree. For progression to the 1st year of a postgraduate degree at the University of York. Your course length is determined mainly by your English language level (UKVI IELTS score). Students on all course lengths take a set of common or similar modules to gain a solid base of skills for university. If your course is longer than 2 terms, you’ll take additional modules designed to improve one or more of your English language level, academic skills, and basic knowledge of particular subjects. Master of Science - Corporate Sustainability and Environmental Management The challenge of creating long-term value whilst embracing economic, social and environmental risks and opportunities is of growing significance to the corporate governance agenda. Meeting this challenge requires a fresh mindset and a toolkit of professional and research-inspired knowledge and skills. This specialist Masters will equip students with essential theoretical and evidential foundations and help them to develop relevant practical and professional skills from which they can build or accelerate a career in the field of corporate sustainability. This unique course draws on the academic expertise and professional experience of the Department of Environment and Geography and The York Management School, alongside industry-leading guest speakers working in the corporate sustainability sphere. Students will have the opportunity to combine the study of sustainability-driven business models, techniques and tools with legal, ethical, financial, governance, accountability, marketing and organisational aspects. York's postgraduate teaching is informed by its research as well as top-level international and national level experience in consultancy, industry and professional practice. York's management research includes areas as diverse as the circular economy, sustainability and resilience, ethical marketing, social enterprise, sustainability in supply chains, corporate governance, global business and risk management. Its environmental sustainability research focuses on understanding the causes and consequences of environmental change and developing innovative solutions to environmental challenges ranging from climate change to biodiversity conservation.
