The Pre-Masters Programme is a fast-track programme, designed for students who would like to gain the specialist skills and knowledge they need to succeed in their Masters degree at Liverpool John Moores University. Students will build on the knowledge gained in their undergraduate studies, whilst developing their practical English language abilities, as well as study and research skills. The Pre-Masters in Business, Management & Law will introduce students to the legal world and the world of business. Through the use of application learned in modules, students will come to gain valuable insights that will key to their chosen progression degree. As part of the Pre-Masters Programme in Business, Management and Law students will: gain an understanding of the analysis of academic concepts and issues relating to operations management, organisational strategy and organisational behaviour with an emphasis on critically evaluating ideas and applications identify the limitations of business models and management theory complete a subject related research project if students take the Law route, they will study the principles of legal methods, legal argument and legal concepts are outlined, and they are encouraged to develop skills in legal argument. The MSc Management and Digital Business (with Advanced Practice) course provides an in-depth knowledge of digital technologies and their application for leaders and managers working in organisations worldwide. On this course, students will: Grow their digital and general managerial knowledge and bring it up-to-date Acquire contemporary management and digital competencies sought by profit and not-for-profit organisations seeking to fulfil their goals Study in a dynamic business school, located in the great city of Liverpool, with a strong scholarship culture with a team of reputable lecturer Study the 'Microeconomics of Competitiveness' module designed by Harvard Business School and delivered by Dr Moustafa Haj Youssef, an official affiliate of the MOC-Harvard network. Increasing globalisation, deregulation, faster innovation cycles, digital transformation and accelerating economic integration have made markets more dynamic, competitive and digital - and above all, more complex. Digital technology is now of significant importance to organisations and on this course Liverpool John Moores University considers how it can be applied. For the organisation, to become digital means not just consideration of new transformational-enabling technologies but also of human resources, business processes and strategy. On this course, students will study mainstream management functions alongside digital business. All organisations seek to improve performance. Managers are using digital advances as well as improving their use of traditional technologies to change customer relationships, internal processes and value propositions. This two-year course has been expertly designed to place students at the forefront of contemporary business practice with a specific focus on the application of digital technologies. In the first year, students will complete the taught (classroom) components of the course. During the second year of the course, students and their fellow students will undertake a semester-long group consultancy project. Working on a business project brief provided by Liverpool John Moores University in collaboration with industry, the consultancy project enables students to apply the theoretical knowledge they have learnt and gain workplace experience at the same time. Students are placed into project groups and assigned an industry mentor to help them navigate the consultancy project and provide business and sector insight. Industry mentors help provide a safe environment in which to learn and develop. Students will gain highly sought-after management competencies, making them more employable and more able to contribute to organisational success. This is of critical importance as contemporary organisations require digitally competent managers who are able to exploit the new technologies to attain goals.
